If you are charged with a misdemeanor DUI and have to go to a city court you need to know the following. Many times the prosecutors will approach you on your first court date and ask you if you want to give up your right to have a DUI attorney at your side. In Arizona and Maricopa County in particular there is a push to resolve cases faster.

As a result, some prosecutors convince people to sign away their rights and take plea agreements for their DUI case. You do have the right to review police reports, DUI blood results, photographs, Motor Vehicle Department records and other documents. There is nothing wrong with asking to see them.

If you have been charged with a felony DUI, you do have time to seek advice from a private attorney. But don't delay. Felony DUI cases have strict time limits. As a result, we suggest that you get a copy of your police report and call our DUI attorneys for a free consultation.

Our Arizona DUI attorneys believe that those who are charged with criminal offenses deserve to know the evidence against them. Those charged with DUI in Phoenix should know whether or not the police officer broke the rules or violated guidelines. If your rights were violated, your case could be dismissed before it ever goes to trial. But without an experienced DUI attorney, it may be impossible to know if you case can be won.

DUI Attorney Nick Alcock writes…

dui law changes

Did you know that there are significant changes to DUI laws in Arizona. Effective 12/31/11, an entirely new scheme of DUI sentences and license suspensions will take effect. Generally speaking, the changes to DUI laws will allow greater flexibility for home confinement vs. jail. Also the length and severity of license suspensions and revocations will be reduced. Currently, for example, there is nothing that a DUI attorney can do to reduce a mandatory three year revocation for a Class 4 Felony Aggravated DUI conviction. In 2012, however, that revocation will be reduced to one year. Furthermore, DUI attorneys will be able to ask the court for credit for time served while a DUI defendant was in custody during the booking process. Next year it may be possible for a DUI attorney to get a client one day credit for the hours they spent at the police station under arrest. Please contact our DUI attorneys for more information.

Arizona DUI Lawyers

Dear Alcock and Associates:

DUI Testimonial

I wanted to take the time to thank your DUI attorneys for helping me through a very difficult time. I had no idea how horrible it would be to be charged with a DUI. The day after I was arrested I felt completely out of control. I didn't know what to do and felt completely alone.

When I met with your DUI attorneys in the office, I immediately felt comfortable and better about my chances. Your attorney was very calming and comforting. I didn't get the feeling like I was being sold anything. She just talked to me in really simple terms and I understood my situation much, much better. She really helped me in a difficult time.

Then, attorney Kristen handled my case. She was excellent. Really outstanding. I would call her cell phone--sometimes too often--and she always picked up or called me right back. I knew that she cared about me and my case.

If anybody I know needs a good DUI attorney, believe me, Alcock and Associates is the BEST!!

Many, many thanks and best wishes,

L.S.
