PHOENIX —
The state Board of Executive Clemency declined to recommend a sentence commutation or a reprieve for a man facing execution Thursday for the June 1988 murder of a young girl in Flagstaff.
The victim’s family and others involved in the case — some speaking through tears — said it’s time to bring justice and closure to the case.
Richard “Ricky” Bible, 49, was convicted of the kidnapping, molestation and brutal murder of 9-year-old Jennifer Wilson while she was in Flagstaff on vacation with her family.
The board’s findings will be forwarded to Gov. Jan Brewer, who has the power to intervene before Thursday. Bible has appeals pending before the U.S. Supreme Court and a federal appeals court.
