Probation court is unique because you have already been convicted of a crime and you are not entitled to the same level of protections that a typical citizen would be given. In fact, in a criminal court the prosecutor would have to prove that you are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but in probation court all that must be proved is a preponderance of evidence which is much easier to prove.  Probation violations can arise for a variety of seemingly “minor” things and before you know it, you are in court for probation violation.  While the reasons may seem minor, it is important to understand that, in the State of Arizona, probation violations are taken very seriously.  Often, a judge will simply sentence you for probation violation unless you present a very strong defense which the average person cannot do.
