Arizona has seen a marked impact of Covid on the divorce rate. There’s no question that the stress associated with the pandemic is driving more and more couples to revisit their matrimonial bonds. Unfortunately, as well, Covid 19 and the lockdowns have lead to an increase in domestic violence rates in Arizona
At our firm we also are seeing a huge uptick in divorce cases. We handle divorce and family law matters across state of Arizona. There’s no question of Covid has had a very significant impact on the divorce rate. Generally it has increased stress and anxiety levels. But younger couples are where we have seen the biggest increase. Nationally almost a third of marriages that started in 2018 are resulting in dissolution now because of Covid.
Our advice? Seek counseling before you seek legal counsel. Understand that the pandemic will be over and our lives will return to some sense of normalcy. If Covid is the reason why your marriage is ending, keep in mind that Covid will be over too. Our advice is to take your time, consider all your options, and look to reconcile before taking the ultimate step with a divorce attorney.
Here at Alcock and Associates our team and staff are dedicated to helping and representing YOU. The first step is to understand your case. We will take the time to get to know you and your legal situation so that we are best able to answer all of your questions.
